If your business is to demonstrate adequate safety management,

As specified by the law and international standards,

You must demonstrate evidence of processes.

Not a single step, product or service but processes.

Often referred to as ‘safe work systems’.

Processes relating to safety management of personnel and work environments, as it applies to travel.

Processes to implement, manage and verify safe work systems, as it applies to travel.

Processes for identifying hazards and threats along with the management of risk and control measures, as it applies to travel.

Processes of reporting and acting upon safety-related events and issues, as it relates to travel.

To test this within your business, select one traveller and one trip.

Review your entire business travel safety process, and confirm that any 1 individual is supported and contained within that designated safety process, as it applies to that specific traveller and that specific journey.

Now apply it to 10 travellers and 10 business trips.

Is the process, outcomes and evidence unique and specific to each traveller and trip?

If not, you don’t have adequate evidence to demonstrate travel safety management, in addition to having insufficient processes in place.
